BUG match yesterday and I came in first in BUG. Sadly there were 12 people in front of me who were running CCP and the newly created "BUG optics" division so once again I was first dinosaur. This does mean that next time I'll run the G43x with the dot, or at least I have the option to. Who knows, by the time the next BUG match rolls around that I can participate in the hellcat could have a dot or something.

On the last stage the RO let us get a little silly / IDPA illegal. He was running a Chiappa Rhino in 9mm and I wanted to try it. The stage was a hot table start with a reload off the table so instead of a reload I just picked up his revolver. I downloaded the HC so it would run dry after the first two (but didn't lock open as you can see in the video I had to lock it manually) and then I just switch like in 2-gun. Worked pretty well considering I had never fired the Rhino before.

Sold the Benchmade auto knife that's been in the safe for 7+ years. Got it in a trade, would never carry it so I turned it into cash. No regrets on that one. If I wanted to carry an illegal auto knife, I would get an out-the-front style for maximum movie style points.

Went with the woman to the tack swap show at the fairgrounds. She wanted to get some sort of strap for her saddle. Dover wanted $55 for a 8" long piece of leather with two buckles. She found several the show and grabbed two in different lengths for $14 total.

After reading "The Four", the book for our investing book club next month, I'm trying to make sure I don't just blindly give all my business to Amazon because of how they operate. I've always price checked anything over... well anything I think looks too expensive at Amazon. This time it was two bags of coffee and an air tag (I want to learn to use them). Walmart was cheaper on all 3 items and gave me free 2-day which is plenty fast for what I was ordering. Only downside to the experience was that they left the package here instead of the mailbox or house...

I'm trying to get up at the same time every day. With the early classes I'm getting up at 5am, but then with no class I'm sleeping in until 6:30am which is really screwing with me. Sometimes I stay up later, getting up with less sleep or going to bed early and then waking up randomly at 4am. I'm hoping that by just doing 5am every day things will smooth out. Today though... 6am. Haven't started setting an alarm every day, maybe that's the next step.

Somehow I got cut at BJJ the other morning. This is supposed to be the safe sport?

Trying to write at Panera on a Saturday seems like a bad idea. I'm outside to avoid the herds of fat people and their squalling kids and now have to listen to a bunch of look-at-me tiny dick Harley riders revving down the street. People just suck. But it makes sense why the fat people are here on the weekends, the skinny ones that remote work and take care of themselves are off on adventures and the regular worker folk are out stuffing their faces and buying random crap.

Writing at Panera and a cop showed up to haul a crackhead off. She didn't exactly look like a crackhead, but as soon as the cop showed up she got all loud and mouthy and flaunting stupidity.

After the initial 10 seconds of contact, everyone else (maybe 40+ people) went back to whatever and just ignored the ruckus up by the register. The only people with their heads up was me, and another old dude in a Triangle Shooting Academy t-shirt. I watched until he hauled her out and then kept and eye on things until the second cop showed up (a tiny ass chick) to frisk the crackhead and haul her away.

The woman's pride day booth thing turned out well. Between her and another two shrinks they did a reasonable job of decorating and having resources for people. She appeared happy with the outcome. 350-ish people attended the march/parade/booth thing, so that's better than they planned.

The woman's "official" photo from the event staff:

The external thermostat on the heat pump went nuts, I figured it was the thermistor failing because that's about all there is on that circuit. Picked up an OEM sender off eBay and it works. Could have gone with a generic 10k thermistor, but I'm kinda getting burnt out on cheap ass Chinese junk. Sometimes you just have to pay the exorbitant markup on cheap chinese junk that's been QC'ed. Maybe.

Just noticed the 'before' photo doesn't show the weather, it was just after the system booted and before the wifi connected. Oh well, no one is ever going to see this to call me out on the potential error in my photos.

The woman caught a copperhead out by the quail and then didn't know what to do with it so she carried it with her up to the window to yell inside for me.

My first Costco hotdog. It wasn't bad.

Prep for the radon system install is in progress. Got the exterior outlet installed and wired in with a switch to a circuit that's on the generator so that's good. The surface mount looks worse than cutting the box in, but this way is far more likely to remain waterproof over time. The other outlet boxes outside are looking a little sketchy in the seal department. Fortunately they're not in use 24/7 like this one will be so there shouldn't be much of a risk.

I've also got the area where they'll cut through the siding prepped and cleared out. Should make it super easy for them so I'm hoping they'll take my suggestion on where to run the piping. I don't want it over the wooden platform since it will be so low. That would make it hard to move around. I want to run it up the middle along the central beam and then back along the rear wall and out.

Dad sold the Corvette yesterday, he finally admitted he can't get out of it and the angle of the seat kills his fused back. End of an era. He replaced it with a 2024 Honda CR-V. Not a bad choice really.

Not quite a hurricane by us, but a lot of rain really quickly. The pond was full and water was rolling in fast:

The morning of I dug out the overflow, and it really helped. The water never got above the top of the pipe and went down 8" in 24 hours when the rains stopped so the overflow did it's job. I did have to rescue a few dozen tiny fish that got swept out into the neighbor's yard. Probably a lot more over time but I didn't see them... so some racoons or what have you get a fish treat when the water goes down.

Went for my MRI and since it was a non-contrast one I got 'the trailer'. Didn't have to do anything on this one, just lay there for 30 minutes and not move with my head clamped into what I assume looked like a giant armored helmet. It had a face visor like a knight's helmet anyway.

Some images from the results. You can really see how busted up my nose is in that last one. Eesh.

Radon system was done today. The dude kept saying the pipes had to be 'not level' and every time his two assistant illegal chicks made them too level he made them change it.

Level is 6.0 as of this writing, we'll see what it stabilizes too after the system has been on for a bit but the rail is a huge challenge so just not spiking up to 15+ would be an improvement.
