Implant is in. They wouldn't give me anything before the IV so I had to let them just do it. They used a chilling spray to numb my hand a little and sorta inverted me on the table with my feet up and then... it was in. After I clicked on the consent form they gave me something via the IV and I no longer could track anything.

There was a moment of panic when the doctor said they were using a cochlear brand implant. That's not what I picked! He called down to the OR and the right parts were there, just someone had put the wrong thing in the notes. Still frightening.

Made it home and the woman posted this picture of both of us in our halloween costumes (ha ha).

Some people didn't get it, so I made an image for them. It's funny because it's so poorly done.

We took the bandage off yesterday, some blood but that's it. No oddly colored fluids so no infection.

No residual hearing in the left as of yet, but it's very stuffy. My right ear comes and goes as the fluid equalizes in my head, that's annoying but expected.

Got one of the rechargeable Pro Tac 2.0 lights for the pony. Compared to the TLR1-HL it's much brighter indoors, and outdoors there is no comparison. Shots would be possible at 100 yards with the new light, plenty of range for the yard.

I'm carrying the BG2 way more these days because of where I've been going, low threat and while not illegal I really don't want the book club or writing group people to know I'm carrying. I doubt that would go over very well with that crowd. Got a new holster, the SM-5 size which is for the Hellcat but just like the other one is large enough to cover the rear sight on the BG. The 'proper' size leaves that hanging out which would cut into my pants. Rather have it cut into a cheap holster.

Very little going on, no gym, no classes, no exercise.... just rotting away while I heal up.

The pepper plants that should have died off long ago are still trying to produce. Each one has one pepper on it which I'll harvest for the next stir fry.

Maybe I'm crazy, but this chick at Panera the other day looks like an older version of Trish. Can't be, I mean this chick is too tall and probably not old enough, but still kinda struck me as similar.

At the co-working site. Traffic was annoying because of the perpetual construction and lane closures, and parking was a problem because the lot and street are full... but now that I'm here with a cup of coffee and a decent bagel, it might just be OK.

At the 'colo' as the woman calls it. 1103 words written and a section finished. That's some good progress for the day and the second successful writing attempt here. If this keeps up, I just might finish the first draft by the end of 2025!

Gun show today with dad, Sean and Tim. First one in what, four years? It was almost identical to the last one. High prices on guns, ammo, optics and accessories. There were a few deals in there, one of which dad went back to after walking the show and figuring out that yes, what I said was a deal was a deal.... but someone else had grabbed it already. That's how it goes.

The woman found some recipe for a butternut squash.... uh... thing in Food and Wine and made it for dinner. You roast the squash and then top it with croutons and cheese and onions or something. It wasn't bad at all, a few tweaks and it would make a solid side dish.

Now that the election is over the woman grabbed me 10 signs from their HQ. They're simpler than the old ones, not a H shaped frame with a plastic sign on it but just a metal U with a fancy trash bag (basically) over it. Turning the bag inside out hides the candidate info and makes it easy to tape targets to. They'll work, unless someone shoots the metal (always happens when you leave stuff at the range and goobers who can't shoot use it).

Went with Jason down to Casa Mexicana yesterday for lunch before going to Ed's to look at stuff. I wanted the new CZ, they had none. He wanted a specific suppressor, they didn't have it. So the day was a flop other than a nostalgic lunch. Good enough.

Today the woman and I went up to Guitar Center and I played and bought one of the dorky Martin Backpacker travel guitars. Not sure why I'm so obsessed with the idea of small hard to play guitars, but here we are.

Replacement battery for the UPS showed up today. As you can see, it's just a wee bit bigger than the OEM unit. Wired up and on the shelf, it works but I want to see how it charges to 100%.

Sean had a neighbor with a tree that fell in his yard and Sean hauled the trunks over into his front yard and left them there for... a few years. Yesterday he had a guy come over with a splitter and they cut and split about 3 cords of oak. I "helped", OK not really I just showed up for the last hour of mostly socializing and splitting the last few rounds so Sean kicked me some of the wood that wouldn't fit in the truck he borrowed. It's not much, but it's really good oak so I can't complain.

Thanksgiving dinner at dad's today, and I made this that the woman found in Food and Wine. It wasn't bad, although with my screwed up sense of taste it's got a metallic aftertaste just like half the stuff I eat does now.

Someone on the forum got a Taylor 618 used that the seller said had "absolutely no fret wear". When it arrived, it had noticeable fret wear. I looked at mine, and sure enough mine is showing signs of use as well.

From the losing my mind and spending money file, I traded the G34.5 in for this CZ. I wanted to try a DA/SA decocking hammer fired option and this new CZ is optics ready for the SMSc / holosun-K footprint. They widened the slide to make it work so it's not just a plate perched up on a narrow slide. FG&G didn't have the optic I wanted so I had to order it, should be here tomorrow.

Also from the losing my mind and spending money file, that gaming PC I've been looking at for the last 6 months went back on sale. At the sale price it's a very competitive offering, if with a goofy keyboard. I'll need to spend $30 to get win11 pro from the keys place but otherwise it's ready to run.

And now of course I can play Balder's Gate 3! Before I couldn't play it at any frame rate, the 970 was below the minimum but now I'm cutting edge with a GPU that's not top of the line but way up there.
