My shoulder continues to be a problem, along with my knees and hands. Just generally all around sore and in pain. My knees have to be bent or they ache and wake me up. Annoying.

PT guy did some massage stuff and wanted to do the 'cupping' they do on the real athletes. Not sure what it does other than cause bruising; I accused him of wanting to use magic healing crystals next.

Saved a jar so I can make up my stir fry sauce ahead of time and mix it without using a bowl and spoon (which never really mixes it well enough). Now I can shake it like a salad dressing and get the oils/vinegar/water a little more dispersed before pouring. Looks unappetizing though.

Got mail from work, I'm now eligible for the 401k. The matching is a joke with a long vesting, but just dumping money in tax deferred, that's good enough. I set the slider to 99%, high as it would go. Curious if someone from payroll will call to verify that.

Got a call from dad just now, he got cleared to play golf yesterday so he was out today. His heart meds are wrong, so they're going to switch them but he has to be in the hospital for 2 days while they change the meds over in case something happens. That sucks.

Anniversary dinner, which is actually a lunch and not on our anniversary. Tried a Vietnamese place, and was disappointed. I mean, it was fine but did not taste like actual Vietnamese food. More like mall Chinese made by someone trying to mimic Vietnamese.

Dad was in the hospital for a few days for observation while they changed his heart meds. He's on the new stuff now and back out in society. Now we just have to see if the meds are going to do the trick. He's going into afib quite a lot still, and the pack maker is firing way more often than it should be.

I tried to capture some of the heart monitor activity. The yellow alert thing is the pace maker firing.

The woman had a cookie party / cookie exchange thing with the neighbors and some friends. Everyone brought 2 dozen cookies and then sampled, voted and then took cookies home. She collected all the recipes and sent them out so people could make new things for the holiday. My granola bars won the "wait, this is healthy?" category but sadly I wasn't really allowed to win... plus what am I going to do with the prize the woman was trying to get rid of in the first place?

With the CVA being so accurate (sub MOA with some subsonics!) I've gone ahead and put the 4-14x scope on it. If it's going to be that accurate it deserves better glass and I already own it so it might as well get some use. I put the carpet pad under the stock pack again to get my eyeball lined up with the higher optic. We'll see how it works tomorrow.

Also, Jeep is still not back. They're sourcing a used transmission to drop in there. I was hoping for a rebuild, but the used one is all they can find. It's got 65k on it, so 30k less than the existing one. Guess that means I'll get a few years out of it before this one fails?

They're very faint and you have to hold it in the right light... but I've got scratches on the Taylor now. Apparently my strumming isn't as clean as I thought.

Picked up a bag of bean soup mix and tried it out. Soaked the beans overnight, simmered it slow, added the onions, sausage and tomatoes (from the garden!) and... it's actually edible. Not a bad first effort at all.

Building up new medical bags so each vehicle has one. I'm using those little sling bags I traded for for two of them, and put some unnecessary flair on them just for fun:

I really liked this red calloway ball we found on the course, so I ordered some. I'm almost out of the orange ones, I'm playing 'real' balls on some water holes now and losing them.

ssh-ing in from Panera, makes me think I should change ssh to only use keys, or setup a landing VM that only accepts keys. There were some hacking attempts and failed logins so I know someone is banging away.

Doing a yum update shows ssh is up to date, but there is a new kernel. So here I am, installing kernel updates remotely with no way to get to the VM console if I bork things up. Ah, the joys of not having to worry about production being up 24/7 anymore. :)

Got the jeep back with it's new used transmission. They also replaced one of the CV shafts, which is nice but also then means the other side is probably going to be due at some point soon. Non-serviceable joints seems to be a thing, and a bad one. Manufactures save money with inferior parts and get planned obsolesce/failure in 100k miles. It's running well now, the only strange noises are from the cheap tires, which I can live with. I engaged the 4x4 mode lock on the driveway and I think I could hear the rear drive line spinning with the central diff locked. That's a good sign, wish I could test it somehow and be sure.

I wondered why spell check was picking up things as errors that were in the custom dictionary, and then I realized I was running the journal edit script as root and not myself. That created some permissions problems as well as not having my dictionary available. Doh.

A giant section of tree limb fell and punched a hole in the barn roof right over the quail cage. I managed to clear the junk off the roof and slap a patch over it; had just the right size piece already cut. Lucky that.

Making some progress on the medical bags. Got more stuff broken up from the big boxes and bagged/labeled. Next up, the meds.

Replaced the plugs and wires in the truck this morning, was actually pretty easy with all the various drive extensions and swivels from dad's toolbox. The only issue is that the new wires were slightly longer so instead of nicely routed wires we get them bulging out. That's fine on the passenger's side, but on the drivers side the steering shaft is there and moving so I had to twist the wires at funny angles to keep them from touching. Hopefully they stay there and this isn't a problem going forward.

In a momentary state of crazy I pulled the back seat out of the Jeep to see how much room there might be for a build. The woman flipped out. So I put it back. Maybe she has a point, maybe I don't need two 'custom' vehicles?

Rather than paint the steel wheels on the Jeep, I'm trying these wheel covers. They're not too horrible, just don't look at it very closely....

Finally soldered up new leads to connect the solar batteries back up. I had pulled them to put the van battery here, but the van battery is pretty worn out (and back in the van after the fiasco of a few months ago) so these will have to do.

I would replace these with something HUGE if I had an actual use for this setup. It's too small for the dehumidifier, too far away for the HAM radio. Mostly it's just a backup to charge phones/laptops/batteries when the grid is down and the generator is off.

Also, on the 2nd try Amazon got me the license plate frame I ordered, Mounted up, looks good, calling it done from my to-do list.

Good old corporate irony. The sales drivers at Johnson don't have email, or any access to any corporate systems, or even badges to get into locked areas. We submit paperwork via paper in an envelope on a desk. No access to anything. Yet... they felt it necessary to give us email so we could login and do the mandatory IT security training.... so we have to get access to learn how to control access.

Went to Tim's last night, he had a gift for all of us. More free / stolen ammo from the cop barn. They're issued ammo, and then turn it back in after carrying it around for 2 years, then it sits on the shelf until someone 'hauls it away'. They told Tim to take it and 'get rid of it', so now it's being passed out to all of us. :)
