A crap round, but my first birdie. Ever I think.

As much as we hate frying stuff on the stove top, I did make some hash brown patties. They turned out well and can be frozen before frying so there are extras in the freezer for later.

Made a second batch of granola bars, this time using my home made vanilla extract and Melissa's honey. Taste... about the same really.

Speaking of Melissa, first off... she's dating Jason now. They've been out twice so far. Oy. More annoying though is I told her to put her gardening presentation on her laptop for the Saturday meeting and not rely on the damn internet working at the restaurant. Did she? Nope. Did the wifi go down? Yep.

20 minutes of dorking around and finally tethering to a phone. Just keep it local!

The 50 is gone. Put it on the forum, had one guy want it within a few hours, another made a lower offer and a third guy who wanted me to pull it down and re-list it later after he sold his car and would have the money. Um, that's not how it works. Anyway, it's gone. Rifle, optic, ammo, components, everything. I'm 1000ut of the 50 game. Didn't even think to keep a single round as a memento.

Finally got that dried thyme into a spice jar. Now I need to do the sage.

Went to lunch with McCrain, haven't seen him in years. Where would we go? Taco Bell of course, it's kinda an awkward tradition at this point. I was worried about getting sick, but it didn't make me sick, just sad. The fresco style salsa was mostly onions and a few not ripe tomato bits, and the bean burrito was dry. Not as bad of a letdown as Chick-fil-A, I still have hope for the bell. The basics were still there.

Dad got his pacemaker installed yesterday and is doing OK. We visited him in the hospital real quick, and as of 2pm today he's already back home.

The big (good) news is that my M2 mini showed up. It's fast, and with the external 'dock' that holds the extra SSD having a bunch of ports on it I was able to remove the extra USB3 hub from the mix. Audio is now going to the monitor via HDMI, and from there into the EQ and to my headset. I think the reason I was using the USB sound widget was that the cable was too short to reach where I had the macbook sitting for access (it wouldn't ever reboot clean).

There are some annoyances that are fixable, but the biggie is that they totally broke SMB in 13.2. The fix is to downgrade, or move your file services off to another mac not running 13.2. Great. So much for this M2 being the center of everything. The old air is now playing the role of file server for Time Machine until they get this OS fixed.

Range trip today, and I managed to fall and drop the G34 in the process. Really knocked the rear sight off, looks like it mostly hit right on the rear edge/side of the slide. Ouch.

When the woman calls me on the phone instead of texting, you know it's not good news. Lugnut and Taco got into some serious fighting yesterday and lugnut broke both horns off. Annoying goats.

She found both the horns though, guess they can go in the memory box for this year.

I'm supposed to be at a match right now, but I slipped and fell during practice on Thursday and really hurt my shoulder. Between being stiff and mentally sorta shaken I decided not to do the match today. Damage to the G34 was minor, but the sights got whacked and it's off about 2.5" at 10 yards now. Jason tried to drift them back with a punch but it's really loose in the dovetail so I'm going to have to use the sight pusher next time and mark it with a paint pen. The dovetail could be too worn at this point.

Got the electric back from service, and they did a lot of stuff. Considering it wasn't setup at all, the fact that it was out of whack wasn't a shock.

Also today the mount showed up from Amazon (with some new socks!) so I got the old acoustic a spot on the wall. I'll leave it in drop D tuning all the time for playing Nirvana when I don't want to re-tune something else.

The woman wanted a new sofa, the existing one is 17+ years old and while we replaced the cushions it's still a bit worn. We went to a couple of stores but ended up at Lay-z-boy and got this thing. I was totally against the power adjustments.... until we actually played with them. With infinite adjustment options it's possible to get it 'just right' which isn't as important to me as it is to the woman. Her hip is really bothering her so getting things set perfectly is important. Now I need to install a power box under where the sofa sits, no way I'm using a battery box on a damn sofa.

It's got two memory presets per side so we can each adjust it once for 'normal' mode and one for 'lounging watching TV' mode. As to color, after looking at a bunch of cloth and leather options, we ended up going with the exact brown leather that was on the display unit. The only addition to the standard was the extra lumbar adjustment. It wasn't much, and the woman liked that.

Got the tax paperwork done, and a REFUND is on the way. Wee! Too bad we just spent half of it on a sofa. The accountant also said we're eligible to each put $7k in a ROTH so we're doing that with Robert now.

That onion that sprouted on the counter is now planted in a pot. I'll move it outside once the frosts are done.

The woman's old macbook that I got right before I left Apple finally died. On board SSD failed. I tried to load and external SSD with OSX and while that worked, it was too slow. The USB ports are only USB2 so not fast enough to actually use as the root drive in this era. Apple does free recycling so we got a label and shipped it off to wherever to be dismantled.

Oddly when I put the spare SSD I had on there to wipe it caused the mac to boot to windows. That was unexpected.

The magpull stock for the Ruger that I ordered in 2021 and was delayed due to covid finally shipped. It's expensive now, up $50 from when I ordered it but it does look nice and is really solid. I've since put the proper bi-pod adapter on there and will take it to the range and see if it makes a difference.

I reworked all my backup/sync scripts to make the mac-hv (old air) the central mac storage and have it pull things from the web server and the windows shares rather than try to push to it. Seems to work OK.

Good news, bad news, really good news? The new propane generator arrived, that's good. The box was really damaged so before I accepted it I opened it and checked, the frame seemed OK. Whew. Then as the truck drove away, I noticed the panel was smashed. The impact must have been right on the side, like it fell on the corner of another object:

I stopped the driver before he left but he said that since I had signed for it there was no rejecting it. I contacted amazon support right away and they said "no refunds no exchanges". That's BS, I wasn't trying to return it just get one that wasn't damaged. Not exactly an exchange. I told the rep (all via chat) that I wanted to file a claim against the shipper then for damage in transit. He went away for 5 minutes and came back with "how about we just refund your money?". So.... it looks like they're doing that and they don't want the damaged generator back. Did I just get a free generator? Even if I have to pay to get a new panel and pound that dent out of the sheet metal.... if it works that's an awesome deal for me. If it doesn't work, I now have a spare engine, generator, fuel tank, battery... everything.

The refund (broken into two parts) says pending on my chase statement, that's a really good sign I really am getting the money back. Then I just order another one and have a spare...?

500 rounds (total) through the TX22 comp as of today. The loctight is keeping the optic mount on there, so that's good. So far no real drama.

Take the panel off, loosen the inner cover so I can wedge some 2x2 behind the panel, bend panel back using clamps, beat the dents out with a hammer, reattach breaker wires, reattach spark plug wire, verify auto-choke isn't stuck, carb isn't damaged, fuel lines are OK, charge battery, add oil, verify regulator isn't leaking, stand back… push the button….

Free working generator!

Yesterday I went and got 3, 100 pound propane tanks for this generator project. The larger tanks have a different regulator than the little ones, it threads inside the tank valve instead of on the outside and it's all brass instead of plastic. I feel like I've gone up a level here.

Put the new 2 burner grill together, turns out I put the side shelves on backwards. The mounting holes are evenly spaced so you can put them on either way and there are little holes that need to be on the outside to hang accessories off of. Oh. Probably not going to reverse them, don't have anything to hang except that 1 brush.

Went to my first BJJ class yesterday, it was a lot of fun. Everyone I worked with was helpful and not anti-new guy at all. Moved my regular fight club lesson to Thursday to give me time to recover which turned out to be a smart move. I'm sore. Not injured, just sore.

Sent in my resignation letter to the auto inspection people. No work to be done so me being on standby forever is just lame. I thought it would be fine, but it's always just in the back of my mind that I might have to go do stuff on a day I don't want to do it.
