New Years Day test of the journal software, which I think always works.
Yep, pretty funny when you look back at the last few Januaries and I'm amazed each time and write that down. :)
Took a picture of the work day schedule at the club last night, and today when I pulled it up to read it preview offered to make calendar entries from the text in the photo. Impressive.
Dad found a monitor in a building he and his brother in law were cleaning (I don't know why) along with a bunch of old UPSes. The UPSes were all trash, but the monitor and it's wall mounting arm were good. I've been using a TV for a monitor in the music room because I don't have a stand/mount for the spare monitor I have. The combo dad found is just as good as the spare I have so this morning I built a mount for the credenza in the music room. Now I have a pan/tilt monitor hovering over the surface which gives me a lot of room and I can make the monitor be at eye level when I'm seated so I don't have to look down to see the lesson.
The lumber used it from the bathroom demo scrap pile, the screws are reused from the striking pell I took apart so really all I'm in this thing is the BBQ black paint and the DVI adapter (which I had). That's winning.
All of the hiking groups say they want you to be able to walk at 3mph sustained. I did 4 miles around the lake (so two laps) and it worked out to 3.3mph... on flat ground with no encumbrance. I'm guessing with a light day pack and elevation changes I can still keep up, but it's faster than I recall hiking.
I put the cheap 1-6x from the RDB onto the little badger 22 and took it to the range on Sunday (where I was exposed to covid, one of the dumbasses there had it and wasn't isolating). It's zeroed at 50 yards with CCI STD, so it's on at 100 on the first big hash mark and on at 150 on the last (4th) big hash at the bottom of the reticle. Couldn't try 200 since I'm out of elevation marks, and without the gongs at 200 freshly painted I can't see the impacts if I hit anyway.
MMA guy is still in the hospital, he had emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction last week. Just got this today, so clearly no lesson tomorrow:
My little tuner showed up. This one isn't 'better' or anything it's just small enough to stay on the guitar all the time even in the case.
Match today. Damn cold, but the 'hot hands' thingies helped.
Did more inspections, at the 'good' dealer in Sanford I actually did the car on the showroom floor. I didn't pull it in/out but I found it interesting that a car that was so... well I really don't know what the showroom cars are for. I would expect them to be the super hot super popular ones to draw people in and when they can't pay the crazy mark-up they get them to buy something else. I mean, that makes sense for people who are dumb and just buy whatever. But then why dealer auction the thing rather than just sell it at a more retail friendly price?

The other new one was a car that was so stinky that it had to be noted as a 'damage'. An otherwise clean Prius V, which should be an easy sale until you open the door and it smells like dead dog. I can see why that will never sell at retail until you find someone who can't smell, or loves dead dogs, or who gets it cheap enough to live with or replace the interior. It was gross.
Made stir fry with tofu as a test. The woman fried it up ahead of time and then I just treated it like pre-cooked meat. Used a different sweeter sauce, no hoisin in it and it was much better. Hoisin isn't cheap either, so skipping it is a double bonus.

Two errands today after my at home workout (Cory is still unavailable). The first, was to go to Guitar Center and pick this up:

It's a BULLET® STRATOCASTER® HT HSS per the web site, although it looks like online it's now coming with a white dash or whatever you call it instead of black. So why an electric after all my "I don't want an electric!" talk? Well... sometimes things are just better sounding on the right instrument. Sydney is teaching me all sorts of power chord stuff which works better on an electric. I'm doing it on the acoustic but it sounds forced. With the Spark Amp and this sub-$200 guitar I can now play around with effects and tones and make Metallica sound like Metallica.
I still hate the electric sound for strumming songs. Sheryl Crow sounds like crap on the electric, and the finger picking isn't nearly as satisfying on an electric so the high quality acoustic is still going to be my go-to. I do not want to become one of those gear heads that buys guitars and can't play. If I play this electric for a year, I'll upgrade just like I did with the acoustic. If I don't... well then I'm out $200 but made a good try of it. The amp really does do wonders with an electric driving it.
Second and way less fun was to get some bags of shavings for the woman. Now she doesn't have to get them tomorrow and we can play golf (weather permitting).

I think this is my best game yet, slightly under bogie golf. That one hole, with the crazy bad 5 putts... I'm getting better but things can still go off the rails from time to time.
There were possums having sex in the paddock, 4 of them. When you got close they would just play dead and look like they're taking a post coitus nap. Mildly amusing.
Went on a hike today, turned out to be 6.5 miles with all the elevation changes. It's advertised at 5.9, so close I suppose. Not crowded at all and only 20 minutes from the house.
Only took 1 photo of the river near the main bridge. It's probably pretty nice here in the spring.
I pulled out the iPhone 6s and refreshed it and it is capable of running the tuning app and the spark amp app. Combine that with the extra 90 degree cable and the phone holder from my work setup and I now have a phone at the ready in the music room all the time. No more hauling the ipad down. Seems like a minor thing, but it's made up of 100% reused parts so it's a free luxury.
Work day at the club today, the entire rifle range cover was taken down. In the next few weeks they'll pour a new slab and then put a metal framed cover over it. Should be pretty nice when it's done.
My ammo finally showed up in the UPS system and arrived. Looks like it comes normally in a box of 1500 rounds and they just cut the box down to ship my 1000 rounds. Hologram of authenticity though, just like a Windows CD in the 90s.
