Almost died in fight club today. So hot, so humid, I'm so old... I lasted 35 minutes of hard, hard work and then.... whoa. So is this just being old, or is there something wrong with me?

This weekend we moved the library/puzzle room downstairs and moved the 2nd guest bedroom upstairs. With the more cleared out room there is space for me to have an official 'music corner'. It's functional, but maybe I need something better than the box as a table. The woman is looking on NextDoor and other sites for cheap furniture options for me.

While at the farmers market, a FedEx truck somehow tripped the garage motion sensor and the police were dispatched. Annoying all around.

Somehow I lead the entry team when we cleared the house. Skills, yo.

Got this at the farmers market while we were there, going to make ravioli out of it:

The... desk/stand/tv stand/hutch thing the woman ordered for me arrived and I've got it into the music corner. Putting the TV and stuff on the new stand and using the smaller one for the sheet music storage and organization makes way more sense. I can roll it in/out as needed.

I used the rust-off gel and rust covering paint stuff to refinish one of those plant stands dad built long ago, and then cut a piece of the scrap butcher block counter top I got from McCrain like 5 years ago and presto... a record player stand for the woman. She didn't want the edges radiused (I have the router on hand) nor did she want it oiled or stained. So what you see is what was ordered by the 'customer'. :)

We needed to secure the bookcases to the wall downstairs since they're sitting on carpet and pad and not hardwood so they're not totally stable. The strap kits they sell are all pretty junky, just brackets and zip ties or brackets and some wire, or these really strange turnbuckle things. I didn't want to deal with those so I just made some out of barn scrap. Bent up some hurricane strapping and a paint stick and poof.... the book cases are tied together and to the wall. You can't see any of this without a ladder so it doesn't matter. The woman has also put all sorts of stuffed animals up there so it's double covered.

I've successfully (from what I can tell) switched over to Mint Mobile from AT&T. Cell now costs me $15/month as long as I pre-pay for a year. That's not a bad deal at all.

Also, picked up a SU16c today! Used from a forum guy for about half of what they're going for new. Less than half actually. It needs some cleanup and accessory removal, but otherwise it's cleaner than the one I got from the pawn shop. Records show I only put 120 rounds through the first one. This one... probably the same. Pop an optic on, zero, play around... then just sit back and enjoy the weirdness.

SU16 has it's optic mounted and zeroed, and I picked up some 20 round mags for it. They just look better than the 30s and only stick out about 1/2" from the stock when it's folded.

While zeroing the optic on the RDB, it started to malfunction... a lot. Like every round failed to eject and it would double feed after that. After some forum searching it appears that when the rifle breaks in around 500 rounds you have to adjust the gas piston (as seen in the manual) or it gets over gassed and starts to do exactly what I was seeing. I'll dial it in next range trip, I just opened a fresh case of wolf 223 so I'll have a consistent round to fire out of it for a while.

I've wanted to get a bag stand and move my heavy bag from the barn into the basement but the woman was against it. Well... on NextDoor she found a FREE stand and bag and told me about it and told the woman I would come haul it off. Less than 20 minutes after she told me she saw it on the site I had it in the truck and home. A little cleanup and it's downstairs. It's actually a nicer stand than the one I was looking at, and the bag is much better than mine. A huge upgrade for free. Now why she suddenly wants to let me put a bag downstairs I'm not sure about.

The goats are not happy about their new hay so the woman traded it to the neighbors. Their horses have no issue with it. Picky ass goats.

Some artwork of sorts for my half of the music room / library. I had my original 1979 World of Greyhawk maps that were in not too bad of shape so we got and cut some mats and framed them up. Can't even tell the edges are messed up under the matting.

Picked up one of the PSA single stage triggers 'on sale' (same price as always but with free shipping) and after tax it was $86, same as the Larue 2-stage I got from the forum guy. This one reads exactly 5 pounds on the trigger scale, heavier than the advertised 3.5 pounds but also more in line with what I actually want. As long as it doesn't break, it's a deal.

Some light sparing drills with the 'kid' at fight club. Mostly me just trying to hit him while he does defense only, but his defense only can include shoves, shouldering and dumping me when I kick dumb. Sorta like this, where he tosses me back after a weak kick and I go all krav spinney....

Two more videos of the action: round 1 round 2

Got my 2nd trail run in today... just around the lake but at least this time I got the GPS synced up correctly so it shows a 2 mile run and not a 1.3 mile run... I went so fast the lake got smaller?

Why does dad always look like he's being held hostage in every photo? He really needs to learn to smile, even I can do better than that.

Optics swapped around, again. I put the 4MOA old dot on the FX-9 because it's easier to pick up the larger dot and the FX-9 is not a 'precision' weapon with a 50 yard zero and moved the sig dot over to the SU16. It works on there with the QD magnifier to make it easier to zero (or if 'precision' is required). Honestly though my eyes are getting to where 3x isn't enough. Sigh.

The reason I went with the sig dot instead of the prism is that the mount of the sig allows the rail mounted irons to still work. The prism would mean I don't need the backup irons since the battery isn't required, but the prism... well I was going to say would have to sit too high to use the magnifier but it's only 1/4" higher than the dot. Yea I dunno. Here's the view through the sig mount, plenty of space to use the irons.

The temporary light mount still works with this setup as well.

Last gun thing, Sean got a knock-off muzzle brake for his gamer rifle and we tried it out. Makes a LOUD, but also noticeably controls muzzle rise, so I wanted to try it myself in the next class. Good thing it's cheap. :)

The neighbor got his father in laws truck for free, a 1989 F150 4x4, 5 speed. Awesome retro!
