Here is the start of the trip, outside Kenny's townhouse
which is in the same complex as mine was. (Why don't we
have a picture of mine? Probably do somewhere).
Heading out of Oregon just east of Ontario Oregon where my
mom is (was) on a 3 month TOD as visiting therapist at Sister
of the Quick Ruler Medical Complex (name altered to protect
the guilty)
This is very typical of the sights to be seen while driving
during the trip. Lots of nothing. Sometimes there would
be no radio stations available for hours, but the cell
phones never quit working. Sometimes it was better than
downtown Vancouver.
Nothing, with a nicer looking sky. Kenny did a good job
with the pictures even through the window. Shows that a
nice camera helps. We'll have to get Kelley a "real"
camera for christmas.
Nice small town, population of what, 55 or so? This isn't
the smallest town we came across (some only had a store/gas
station/postoffice building and that's it), but it's a
contender. I'll see if I can find the other picture of
the smallest (size) town.
This tunnel was one of the few photo stops we made. Kenny
said "Hey that would make a good picture, too bad we can't
get off the road" to which I must reply "Off road? We're in a
Jeep, we don't need no stinking road." Sure enough, some
highway engr didn't block off the sides of the road too
well.
Closeup of the same.
Kenny made it a point to walk a ways away to get a good
shot of the tunnel. Here I am back at the car watching
him stumble down this rocky slope.
Wow, a minimum speed. That's kinda cool. The highest speed
limit posted was 75 in Wyoming. The fastest the jeep went
was ~90 I beleive. I was asleep and Kenny made up many miles
of ground on the way to Ogden. At one point I dug my shooting
headset out of my bag and used them to dampen the noise while
I slept.
At some point the first day Kenny got some change he didn't want,
and stuck it on the running board....
...day two it's still there. It didn't fall off (even during the
4x4 adventure) until someone (Kenny) did this mad crash through a
vacant lot turning us around in Smallville before the natives
captured us. (Sweethome was down right modern compared to some
places we stopped)
Yes, stinkingwater creek. We had to turn around and come back
to get a picture of this place.
Actually it's pretty impressive. I had to shrink the photo some
to save us 14.4 modem types some download time.
Random tunnel I dont' remember. Probably honked the horn or
something touristic.
Woo hoo, we've made it to Wyoming.
Yep, snow, we've made it to Wyoming. When Kelley came through
there was a huge storm and they didn't see anything that was more
than 5 feet off the road. Didn't miss too much.
I can't remember where this was, but it was one of the
few rest stops we made. If the jeep didn't need gas, we
typically didn't stop for anything.
